The Shotokan style established by Funakoshi Sensei on the basis of the teachings of Itosu Sensei and Azato Sensei. It was founded in Japan on 8 November 1954 by Takeshi Sasaki Sensei, who learned Karatedo from Funakoshi Sensei and Obata Sensei. Sasaki Sensei passed away in 1992, but his rich legacy lives on through the Japan Karatedo.
Since 1974, Hiroshi Nakajima Sensei has lived in Geneva, where he originally moved at Sasaki Sensei's request to serve as official overseas instructor.
In 2009 Nakajima Sensei established Internationale karate Rengo (IKR) and in 2025, Swiss Karate Rengo (SKR).
Nakajima Sensei holds the grade 9th Dan as Head Instructor, and he is a former WUKO (WKF) referee.
